Pseudoautonomy
In IOPT jargon, the opposite of healthy autonomy is pseudoautonomy (false autonomy).
Research on attachment tells us that children who are trapped in insecure and avoidant attachment patterns are unable to find an emotional basis to trust their parents. This makes them very stressed inside and makes sure to keep their distance. This is how their independence is triggered early. They are very preoccupied with themselves and learn faster than other children to establish themselves as independent of adults. They prefer to forgo the opportunities they have for support, and limit the scope of their own needs in such a way that they can satisfy them themselves. They can hardly accept help from others because they are afraid of being occupied by them and having to take on the burden of the “helpers’” emotions.
